(Himalayan Black and Pink Rock Salt)
1. Kala Namak or Black Salt is a special type of
Indian vulcaninc mineral salt. It is actually pinkish grey rather than black
and has a very distinctiive sulfurous mineral taste (like hard boiled egg
yolks). Kala namak has withstood the test of time, sung of in
ancient Vedic hymns, and identified by Maharishi Charak, the 300 BCE father of
ayurvedic medicine. Ayurvedic healers claim this Indian black salt possesses
several therapeutic qualities, and use it to pacify the bowels, aid weight
loss, combat hysteria, and produce good dental hygiene.
Kala namak begins its life deep in the
mountains of Pakistan as the familiar Himalayan Pink Salt. Traditionally,
the salt is transformed from its raw natural forms into commercially sold kala
namak through a reductive chemical process that transforms some of
the sodium sulphate in the raw salt into pungent hydrogen sulfide and sodium sulfide. This involves firing the raw salts in a
furnace for 24 hours while sealed in a ceramic jar with charcoal along with small quantities of harad seeds, aamla, bahera, babul
bark, or Sajji. It is heated to more than 1400 degrees Fahrenheit and mixed
with Indian spices, including the seed of the Black Myrobalan tree called
harad. In Ayurvedic medicine, the harad fruit is used as part of triphala, an
herbal elixir that is used to treat intestinal disorders as well as eye disease
and to promote immune system health. The sulfur compounds in the harad’s seeds
lend their flavor to the salt and darken its color. The fired salt is then cooled, stored,
and aged prior to sale. Kala namak is prepared in this manner in Northern India
with production concentrated in the Hisar
district, Haryana.
The salt crystals appear black in colour, and are usually ground to a
fine powder which is pink in colour.
TRADITIONAL HEALTH BENEFIT
Indian black salt is
considered a cooling spice in ayurvedic medicine and is recommended for many
health issues such as constipation, indigestion, heartburn, bloating,
flatulence, goiter, poor eyesight and hysteria, according to the book “Herbs that
Heal.” In India, black salt is sometimes recommended to people on low-salt
diets due to hypertension because it’s believed to be lower in sodium content
compared to regular table salt. Of course, the composition of Indian black salt
varies quite a bit and depends mainly on whether it’s manufactured using
traditional or modern techniques. Synthetically made black salt has a sodium
content very near to regular table salt. Discuss your salt options with your
doctor if you have high blood pressure.
TRADITIONAL COOKING
Indian
black salt is used extensively on Indian food, including chutneys, yogurts,
pickles, salads and all kinds of fruits. It’s often appreciated by strict
vegans because it mimics the taste of eggs in tofu and other vegetarian dishes.
During the hot Indian summer months, it’s also sometimes used to flavor cool
drinks, which is a practical way to replace sodium lost through excessive
perspiration. I, peronally, use it for all my dishes and I experienced great
benefit for my digestion and bowel movement.

HEALTH BENEFIT OF BLACK SALT COMPOUNDS
Glauber's
salt, Sodium Sulphate,
decahydrate, was historically used as a laxative. It is effective for the removal of certain drugs
such as acetaminophen
from the body, for example, after an overdose.
Iron Sulphide is a Iron and Sulphur compound. As organic matter decays
under low-oxygen (or hypoxic) conditions such as in swamps or dead zones of lakes and oceans, sulfate-reducing
bacteria will use the sulfates present in the water to oxidize the organic matter,
producing hydrogen sulfide as waste. Some sulfate-reducing bacteria can reduce hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene, and have been used to clean up contaminated soils.
Iron is necessary for
the production of hemoglobin (primary component of red blood cells), myoglobin
(major protein of muscle cells), and certain enzymes Calcium and copper must be
present for iron to function properly, and ascorbic acid (vitamin c) enhances
absorption. Iron is necessary for proper metabolization of B vitamins. Iron
helps the blood and muscles deliver oxygen, thus energy, to every body cell,
and it removes carbon dioxide from them. When
iron is low, this oxygen consumption slows down. Iron is important to
many immune system functions, and the body self monitors and regulates the
absorption and use of iron for varying needs. Benefits include a strong immune
system, provision of energy, and mental sharpness.
Sulphur
has long been used because it possesses antifungal, antibacterial and
keratolytic properties.. A well-balanced diet will provide
you with all the sulfur that you need, but if you are a vegan you may need to
supplement your diet. All living things need sulphur. It is especially important for humans because it is part of
the amino acid methionine, which is an absolute dietary requirement for us. The
amino acid cysteine also contains sulphur. The average person takes in around
900 mg of sulphur per day, mainly in the form of protein.
Hydrogen Sulphide where it's present in a very low
concentration has health benefits. H2S acts as a signaling molecule
in the nervous system and probably in the circulatory system too. it dilates our blood vessels and helps control blood
pressure. Some gases act as neurotransmitters.
These include nitric oxide, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide. It's been
suggested that the beneficial effects of garlic on blood vessels and blood
pressure are due in part to the production of hydrogen sulfide after garlic is
eaten. University scientists from China suggest that it slows aging in several
ways.
2. Sendha Namak is the indian name of Himalyan Rock Salt, which is widely know in its
pink variety, but can be found also in more whitish or reddish appearence,
according to the amount of iron in its composition. When crushed its powder is almost white, with a very light pink shade.
This form of salt has been
maturing over the past 250 million years under intense tectonic pressure,
creating an environment of zero exposure to toxins and impurities. This because the crystallized sea salt beds were covered
by lava, which protected the salt from modern-day pollution leading to the
belief that Himalayan Pink salt is the purest salt to be found on earth. It is
now hand-mined from the Pakistan mountains. Himalayan salts are mineral crystals made up of 85.62% sodium chloride
and 14.38% other trace minerals (which are found in the human body too)
including: sulphate, magnesium, calcium, potassium, bicarbonate, bromide,

As natural salt is rich
in iodine and it contains less sodium
consumed per serving; Himalayan salt is made of the same components
as table salt but the crystal structure is larger than refined salt, and by
volume, because the sea salt crystals or flakes take up less room on a teaspoon
than highly refined tiny table salt grains. Its minerals exist in a colloidal form,
meaning that they are tiny enough for our cells to easily absorb. Regular consumption of Himalayan salt provides essential
minerals and trace elements that your body requires. It also balances
electrolytes, assists in balancing the body's pH and increases circulation and
conductivitY.
If you are concerned about the
radiation or if you had an X-ray (from hospitals and airport screening) or
radiation treatments for cancer, soak your body in sea salt (not iodized table
salt) baths to help pull out the radiation from your body. A tiny pinch of good
quality sea salt in several glasses of distilled water each day will provide

HOW TO USE AND DOSAGE
Inahlation with salty water
Make
one or two litre of water boiling, add at the minimum 30 g. of rock salt. When
the salt is melted, put the face over the steam and inahale. Cover your head
with a big towel to keep the steam. Inahale for 10-15 minutes. Your body will
require around 30 minuti to expell the toxins through the mucus.
My
advice you can add few drops of peppermint essential oil to open up your
breathing, and soothen your throat and respiratory tract.
Bath with salty water
Very
effective for dry skin, fungus and detoxify. The detoxifing effect of 30
minutes salty bath it is the same of three days fastign. Thanks to the osmosis
the toxins are released in the water and minerals are absorbed in the skin. The
bath is regulating the acidity in the body and bring the P.H. back to a
balanced value. The amount of salt in the water can be slowly increased from 1%
to 8%. The water temperature should be 37° celsius, so the body doesn’t need to
waste energy to compensate the difference. If
you have heart disease you should first consult with your doctor.
If
you feel a full bath is too much, you can also try only a foot bath.
My advice you can add some drops of
eucaliptus essential oil to enanche the antifungal effect and few drops of rose
or jasmine essential oil for relaxation, soothing, calming down headache and
women’s period syndrom symptoms.
Salty water application on the skin
For
skin diseases, wound, insect bites, herpes. For open wounds always use a 1%
solution. Bruises, sprain, swelling can be treated with a 26% solution.
Salt and hay fever
Take
every morning a teaspoon of salty water (supersaturated) diluted in a glass of
good mineral water. Drink at least 2-3 litre of plein good mineral water. Wash
inside the nose many times every day with a 1% solution. This washing helps to
remove the pollens and help to regenerate the mucous membrane. If even eyes are
affected wash them many time every day with a 1% solution. This solution it is
not burning because has the same salt amount of the tears.
Salt application for throat disease
Drink
every morning a teaspoon of salty water (supersaturated) diluted in a good
mineral water. Drink at least 2-3 litre
of plein good mineral water. Make gargle with a 1% solution. You can do it many
time daily.
My advice is to add one or two drops
of peppermint esential oil to make it more effecting due to its soothing
effect..
Salt and otitis
Take
every morning a teaspoon of salty water (supersaturated) diluted in a glass of
good mineral water. Drink at least 2-3 litre of plein good mineral water. Wash
inside the nose many times every day with a 1% solution. To release the pain in
the ears the small sack (in linem or cotton) containing salt can give good
results. The sack should be heated in
the oven till 50°/60° celsius and then kept on the ear for 20 minutes. You can
repeat this procedure many time por day.
My advice in case you don’t have a
oven, you can heat the salt with a pot (without teflon) until it will make
sound like popcorn and then envelop it with a clean dishcloth or towel (be
careful because is gonna be very hot so don’t aplly it straight on the ear and
don’t touch the salt from the pot with you hands).
Salt and sinusitis, headache, mucus
To
release the pain and clean up the forehead area you can use the small sack (in
linem or cotton) containing salt. The
sack should be heated in the oven till 50°/60° celsius and then kept on the
forehead for 20 minutes. You can repeat
this procedure many time por day.
My advice in case you don’t have a
oven, you can heat the salt with a pot (without teflon) until it will make

careful because it might be too hot so don’t apply it straight on and don’t touch
the salt from the pot with you hands). Anyway it should be very hot to absorbe
the toxins better, so don’t wait too much before applying.
Salt and bronchitis
Take
every morning a teaspoon of salty water (supersaturated) diluted in a glass of
good mineral water. Drink at least 2-3 litre of plein good mineral water. Take
every day an inhalation of salty water at 1% solution. Gradually you can
increase the percent of salt up to 3%.
Salty water for digestion
Take
every morning a teaspoon of salty water (supersaturated) diluted in a glass of
good mineral water. Drink at least 2-3 litre of plein good mineral water. If
you drink this salty water for some months the crystal structures of kidney
stones might crushed and be expelled. This process might be happening along
with some colic. In case of liver and bile disorders, stomac or intestine
spasm, a warm compress of salty water will soothe. Prepare a solution with half
litre of hot water 50-100 gr. of salt. Soak a cloth or small towel in the
solution and apply on the painful area, then envelop your belly with a dry
towel and leave it for 30 min.
Salt and eyes diseases
If
you are suffering of a acute disorder you should make a eye cleaning with salty
water at 1%, 2 or 3 times daily, until it will cure. If you are suffering of a
chronic disease the period of treating will be longer. Don’t worry this solution it is not painful
since it has the same amount of salt contained in the tears.
Salt application for mouth and teeth
Wash
your teeth every morning with concentrate salty water. Do it carefully and
slowly. Make some gargles with salty water and keep it in your mouth for three
minutes before spitting.
My advice you can add 1 or 2 drops
of peppermint essential oil to the salt water to enanch the antibacterical,
antifungal and soothing effect.
Salt for cleaning and harmonizing the environment
It
is better to have a negative ioniser (just a Natural Rock Salt) in each room
where electrical appliances such as the computer and television are operating.
Moreover
you can use this salt even for washing your clothes, paviments and surfaces.
Salt for clothes washing
Put
2 teaspoon of salt in a baket of warm water, soack your clothes inside for at
least half hour before washing and add few drops of lavender essential oil.
My advice these days I am tryng the salt for the washing machine and looks
like it is working very well. I m using cold water in the machine. Salt instead
of washing powder and ading few drops of lavender before the process finish.
Salty water air purifier
Make
a supersaturated salt solution with half litre of distilled rose water and
distilled mineral water, add 2 drops of lavender essential oil, 2 of
peppermint, 2 drops of lemongrass, 2 drops of geranium, 2 drops of eucaliptus
and 2 drops of jasmine.
My advice if you have difficulties on breathing in the night, coffing or
similar, you can nebulize this preparation on yuor room and pillow before
sleeping. If it is not enough you can add two drops of peppermint essential oil
for each side of your pillow, on the down part ( in the line of your chin but
not in the same point where your face is gonna lay)
How to prepare a Supersaurated Salt Solution
Put some pieces of salt in a glass jag and fill with water. Let it
rest for some hours. The solution is uspersaturated when the salt it is not
melting anymore.
How to prepare a 1, 2, 3, 10% salt solution
Melt in 1 l. of water 10g, 20g, 30g, 100g and so on.
Exipiry date
A supersaturated solution of 26% doesn’t allow bacteria to spread, so
it has unlimited conservation, it can be stored anywhere and light is
benefiting to it.

MY
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I am using these salts for the teeth
since two years and for bathing since one year. I used it for headache and
inhalation, sinusitis, bronchitis and fever. I used it for stomac disorder,
fungus on skin and menstrual syndrome.
I had a beginning of paradontosis and my
gums stop bleeding and totally ricover since I am using it.
I had skin herpes which totally disappear
since I am using the salt for bathing, I am adding to the bath few drops of
eucaliptus esential oil to enhanche the antifungal, antibacterical action and
few drops of jasmine or rose for relaxation and parfume..
I treated three times my headache,
sinusitis, bronchitis and fever with salt pack, inhalation and salty bath,
headache was disappearing within half hour, other disorders in two days of
treatment. Over these three times I rarely got a cold and sinusitis never came
back (even I am a smoker and I have dust allergy). I am adding to the
inhalation few drops of peppermint and eucaliptus essential oils to ehanche the
antibacterical, antifungal and soothing effect.
I am bathing every day with a mixture of
pink and black salt (to keep on releasing the toxins and integrate good
minerals, and to protect my body from radiations and pollution), plus few drops
of eucaliptus essential oil (to keep my skin protected from bacteria and
fungus) and jasmine or rose essential oils (which are good for relaxation,
premenstrual an menstrual syndrome, soothing and preventing headache).
I am using Kala Namak (black salt) for
the cooking too. I found it very helpful for my digestion, reducing the mucus
on the intestine and gas releasing.
My advice is too integrate the use of
this salts, with a susteinable life style. Follow an organic alkalizing
oxygenative diet. Eat organic vegetable (such as avocado, cabbage, broccoli,
beatroot, pumpikin, carrot, onion, garlic, leek). Avoid meat and choose fresh
eggs from organic animal friendly farming and only wild fish. Add to your
cooking the right organic spices (such as natural salt, cayenna pepper,
turmeric, cumin, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron, coriander, basil,
parsley, rosemary, sage). Integrate you diet with good seeds (such as
sunflower, fennel, arjwain, flaxseed, cumin) and almonds. Use extra virgin
olive oil or coconut oil and pure ghee for cooking. Use honey and organic cane
sugar non refined. Generally avoid every sort of refined products. Every
morning go outside in a clean air spot (like a park) and practice some
oxigenative exercise, such as yoga and breathing, even singing or dancing, or
jumping and screaming. Let your body get refilled of oxygen. Then give your
self the time to relax, sitting or layng down and enjoy the new air. This
practice should be not less then one hour.
Drop chemicals, industrial products as
much as it is possible. Check always the ingredients of what it coming into
your life.. Take care of your skin and body with real natural products, natural
make up and natural fabrics.
